A character's Race is the species of what they are. Mechanically it serves as the base stats, abilities and traits that make them distinct from other creatures in the world. For a list of playable races already on the wiki, check Category:Races.
Description, History, Culture...etc
A written description of the species is laid here first to give the player an overview of the physical traits and appearance of the species. Other embellishments such as their behaviours, cultures, as well as the place they live and thrive. As much information is given without railroading potential player-character concepts, although this section would also give ideas on how such a character might act amongst others of their kind. One or two defining images of what the species look like visually may also be included here, to give context to what is being read.
Base Stats
The following stats are the first things that should be known about a character Race:
| Statistic | Example Value | Meaning |
| Name | Human | What to call the species, multiple names can be used. |
| Size | Medium (1) | Named Size Category and (Size-Rating) of species, if it varies, states the largest and/or smallest size. |
| Senses | Normal Vision | States the senses type of a species. Creatures typically have five senses (Sight, Hearing, Touch, Smell, Taste). |
| Life-Span | 60 - 120 years | States the average lifespan of the species, assuming they live a full life, are important, and are in peak condition without excessive augmentation. |
| Speed | 15ft (Land) | State the movement speed of a species. All creatures have a land/walk speed, any extra speeds will be listed (). |
| Base HP & HPLV | 10 + 4 | Lists the fixed amount of Hit points, plus extra hit-points gained from Levels and the Body score. If race is larger than Size-1, stated value is if the creature is Size-1. |
| Base MP & MPLV | 12 + 3 | Lists the fixed amount of Meta-points, plus extra MP gained from levels. |
Traits
Unique qualities, abilities and biology of the species can be listed one at a time in this section. Additional traits and Metaphor-like abilities may be gained as a character levels up (Arc), or achieves certain goals. When making a character with a particular species, make note of what Traits they have and apply them as necessary.
Attribute Affecting Trait Species will often have one or more Traits that modify their Attributes. They always give or take Attribute points, in numbers such as +1, +2, -1...etc. If the trait states the Attribute gains Proficiency or Expertise, then all checks and Metaphors that use that Attribute will gain Advantage, and resist Disadvantage on those checks respectively. The Trait may also reference Adding Level to checks and Take Average on checks. It means qualifying Attributes will be able to add their character Level as a versatile bonus to their interaction, and/or be able to count any roll below the average (half, rounded up) as average instead. Do note that traits must state these bonuses to be relevant and they don't always appear.
Size Trait This Trait is often shown to give the player information about the species Size-Rating and relevant information about it. This is more important for character species who are smaller or bigger than Medium. Sometimes this trait will involve special exceptions, such as a Medium creature which counts as being double their Size-Rating for the purposes of carrying and lifting. The trait will specify what size the species actually is, and what size a particular activity or feature the creature is treated as.
Species Arc
As part of the Arc mechanic, species can sometimes have a track of extra traits, powers and modifiers they can pick from as they level up. The phrase used at the beginning of every Arc section is: "<Race> characters can obtain <Race>-specific features at 1st, 2nd, and every even level beyond that. Players can pick which benefit they want in any order so long as they meet the conditions of the minimum level and any pre-requisites it may have." Then there will be a list of Traits that can be acquired at each qualifying level, provided the player meets the pre-requisite to pick it (Could be a character level, or picking another Trait first). And what the trait does when acquired. As per all Arc choices, players can pick 1 Arc trait from each Arc they own.
