Ravenii

From Metaforce TTRPG
(Redirected from Ravenni)
Depiction of Ravenii marching.

Physical Description

The Ravenii are a race of giant Orcs distinguished by their immense physical mass and overwhelmingly powerful builds. Towering far above common orcs and most humanoid giants alike, Ravenii bodies favor width and density over height alone—thick torsos, slab-like shoulders, and arms heavy with muscle that appear more suited to crushing than striking. Their proportions are exaggerated even by giant standards: broad chests, thick necks, massive hands, and heavily calloused feet that suggest a lifetime of bearing tremendous weight. Even at rest, a Ravenii’s posture conveys strain on the surrounding world, as though the ground itself must brace beneath them.

Ravenii skin tones range from ashen gray and slate blue to deep reds and mossy greens, often mottled or streaked with war-pigments, scars, or ritual markings that emphasize musculature and clan identity. Their faces are unmistakably orcish—heavy brows, flattened noses, pronounced tusks—but scaled up and reinforced with thick bone structure and dense jawlines. Many Ravenii wear minimal armor, favoring reinforced bracers, shoulder plates, and crude helms that protect vital areas while leaving their immense physiques exposed as a display of dominance. Weapons are correspondingly brutal: oversized clubs, spiked mauls, or uprooted timbers bound in iron, wielded less as tools and more as extensions of their raw strength.

Culturally and physically, Ravenii giants project intimidation as a constant state rather than a deliberate act. Their movements are slow but inexorable, every step carrying weight and finality. Even among other giants, Ravenii are recognized by their sheer presence—figures who do not rush, do not yield space, and rarely need to prove their power aloud. When Ravenii gather in numbers, they resemble a moving wall of muscle and iron, less an army in formation and more a living force pressing forward through anything too small to withstand them.

Culture & Customs

Ravenii society is built around the belief that size, strength, and endurance are not static traits, but milestones on a lifelong path of ascension. To the Ravenii, being born a giant orc is not an end state—it is the beginning of a journey toward becoming something greater. Physical growth is revered as both a biological and spiritual process, earned through battle, survival, and the willingness to endure hardship. A Ravenii who grows larger is assumed to have proven themselves, and their expanding body is treated as visible proof of experience rather than a gift of fate.

Like their smaller orc kin, Ravenii value conflict, dominance, and martial prowess, but these instincts are tempered by a deep respect for perseverance and usefulness. Strength that serves no purpose is considered wasteful. Those who survive long campaigns, protect warbands, or accomplish great deeds are afforded status regardless of origin, encouraging some Ravenii to leave their holds as mercenaries, guards, or adventurers. Such individuals are seen as testing themselves against the wider world, gathering not only spoils but lessons that will shape them into more complete giants.

Despite their brutal reputation, Ravenii are capable of loyalty and long-term bonds, particularly with those who demonstrate courage or competence in the face of overwhelming size. Smaller allies who stand their ground, offer tactical insight, or provide skills the Ravenii lack are often tolerated—and sometimes respected—rather than crushed. This pragmatic worldview allows Ravenii to function as protectors or allies when their interests align, even as they continue to revel in battle and physical dominance. To a Ravenii, the world is a proving ground, and every conflict, contract, or journey is another step toward claiming a place among true giantkind.
