Versatile Bonus

A Versatile Bonus is a modifier that can become any legal, valid value within the Metaforce system. It is commonly attributed to Meta Dice and Metaphors, which grant these types of bonuses to characters to maximise their options within the game space.

Generally, if a check requires the character to 'pass' or 'hit' a target. a Versatile bonus becomes a Skill or ToHit bonus to raise chances of success. If the V-Bonus is not required for success then it can be applied to different values, such as an attack's damage, or the magnitude of a Status condition.

There are some limits to how a V-Bonus can be applied, such as applying it to values and effects that make sense and are possible to do within the context of the activity involved. Though exceptions can be made when using Meta Powers such a Magic Effect which largely handwaves justification for Versatile Bonuses and leave it up to the player and Game-Master's discretion.
